8/21/10 - Aloha! The studio was transformed into a tropical paradise for our Hula-Palooze luau. Many thanks to all who performed and helped behind the scenes. Our special quests included the dance troupe from the Indonesian consulate and flamenco dancer Angela Arteritano. Sirrom artists Aloha Polynesia Dance troupe, tribal dancer Kat, Jenna Ali, and Liz were all fabulous as they entertained the enthusiastic audience.
8/12/10 - Palmas class with Paola is so challenging and interesting. It is a great foundation for learning flamenco rhythms.
8/7/10 - Bollywood with Kusum is a fun, cardio workout. We love the Bollywood moves!
8/3/10 - Pats Beginner Belly Dance Troupe made their dancing debut at Avant Garden! Family and friends of Melissa, Jerri, Dana and Pat came out to cheer them on.
7/24/10 - Congratulations to Theatre New West director Joe Watts for his incredible production of The Laramie Project at The Holocaust Musuem. We look forward to Joes future plays at Sirrom.
7/24/10 - Alicia and Juan Carlos of Always Tango hosted an exciting milonga at Sirrom! So many talented tango dancers were present!
7/18/10 - Our new friends with Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theater completed their summer run at the studio with a charming rendition of "Seussical." We loved the energy of the young actor and enjoyed seeing our space put to a different use. We so enjoyed getting to know the entire Moore family of the Broadway Bound group.
7/17/10 - Bad weather didn't stop the show as we held our gala dance evening with our special guest Ziah of Atlanta! A wonderful array of local belly dancers, tribal dancers, hula dancers, and Bollywood entertained the audience. Ziah taught a challenging seminar during the day and delighted her students with new technique.
7/10/10 - Sirrom played host for the HABDA gala. There was so much talent on stage!
7/8/10 - The Intermediate Flamenco class started tonight. Paola taught us plenty of technique and we worked hard doing the drills but it will pay off ! This class is great and has such an amazing supportive group of students.
7/6/10 - Pat and her students attended the belly dance show at Avant Garden featuring our own Jenna Ali, drummer Mike and several guest dancers. Look for Pat's students to make their dancing debut at next month's show!
6/5/10 - Debbie, Pat, and flamenco student Margaret attended the Danmar annual recital featuring our own flamenco teacher Maria Fernanda Urbaez. It was a great show and we really enjoyed seeing all the Danmar students perform. Maria performed flamenco, belly dance, and tahitian.
6/4/10 - 1st Annual Drum Jam and Flip Flop Fest rocked the studio! Lots of drumming, dancing, flip flops and a special sing-a-long, complete with a talented guitarist, of the classic Jimmy Buffett song Margaritaville in honor of the "blown out flip flop"!
5/30/10 The new Sex and The City 2 movie features several belly dancers in a nightclub performing on a walkway suspended over a stage. The music soundtrack mixes lots of Arabic rhythms really nice.
5/29/10 The Gypsy Dance Theater dvd drop party at Al Amir had folks packed to the doors to watch the GDT show. Special guests were DAPA (Danmar Academy of Performing Arts) flamenco troupe who did the sevillanos amid the crowd. Al Amir serves a great eggplant and pomegranate dish what a fun place !
5/25/10 We welcome Candace our new samba teacher ! Join her on Tuesdays from 7-8 to learn how to samba its a fun, energetic dance class !
5/23/10 - The Tribal Times class was energizing, lots of work and filled with laughter. Jenny is an articulate, talented and fun teacher..and everyone enjoyed the very hard work-out as well as the sharing of her knowledge.
5/30/10 - The Flamenco seminar with Estefania Ramirez was wonderful. She is a patient teacher and has stressed the importance of fundamental technique and added feminine flair to our upper body movements. We love the Garrotin the beginning students have been learning !
5/30/10 - Come see our new and improved Studio D - it's a knock-out!. The new wood floor on a frame with an air cushion underneath of a few inches is awesome to dance on. This is the same floor Antonio Granjero, Estefania Ramirez and EntreFlamenco danced on at our recent show. It was lifted from the stage and re-assembled into our Studio D. Its particularly great for dancers who dance in shoes.
5/22/10 - We were thrilled and spell-bound by the incredible artistry of Antonio Granjero, Estefania Ramirez, EntreFlamenco, Yiyi and Ricardo at A Night of Flamenco. The dancing and music made for a magical evening of flamenco at Sirrom Studio. We will wait anxiously for the next flamenco event with this amazing group of performers.
